Police have confirmed that one person was killed, and at least two were injured, in a head-on collision on Interstate 15 Friday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Street said the two vehicles collided at mile marker 58 in Cedar City after one vehicle, which was traveling south on I-15, veered into the northbound lane around 2:45 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle that crossed into the northbound lane was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle traveling north received serious injuries and is being transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

“They’re not going to die, but they need to get to the hospital to take care of some injuries,” Street said.

A child who was a passenger in one of the vehicles also received injuries that are not life-threatening.

“Not sure which car the child was in. And I’ve only been advised of those three.

I can’t say for certain there weren’t any additional passengers,” Street said.

The incident caused significant traffic delays for northbound motorists in the area of the crash.
