Chapter 11 Playground Threats 69
Jonathan was amazed that it had been that easy. He headed out to the grass to spend the rest of recess quietly doing what he always did.

As the school year went on, Jonathan got good at getting money from his mother and keeping it on hand for any sort of confrontation. He also became somewhat of a stealth expert at avoiding the older boys, but occasionally he ran into Bronco. When this happened, he would give whatever was required and they left him alone.
While not perfect avoidance helps Jonathan keep the peace.
He learned to pacify or avoid other threatening kids, like the girl Tanya. Even better, she was eventually moved to a different seat, and he no longer had to deal with her every day. She still took the opportunity to quietly say mean things to him when she could, but it wasn’t all the time like before.

Meanwhile he would spend his evenings with Solomon, playing quietly with toys and talking about the things Jonathan was interested in.
Thanks to Solomon, his stress level at school had become manageable, but he would never have guessed what would happen the day his brother was old enough to join him at school.
