The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is continuing to strengthen the bonds between his organization and the NAACP.

President Russell M. Nelson spoke to several thousand people at the NAACP's annual convention in Detroit last night.

It was the first time that an LDS president had ever spoken at the convention, and Nelson focused on love, brotherhood and community in his remarks.

Several people in the audience stood and applauded his speech as Nelson left the podium.

Nelson reminded the convention crowd that love can be given to anyone.
