New Bill Changed to Allow Abortions From 15 to 18 Weeks
ST. GEORGE - The sponsor of a bill that would have limited abortions in Utah to 15 weeks from conception is making a change.
State Representative Cheryl Acton told Republican colleagues yesterday that she has extended the period that abortions would be allowed from 15 to 18 weeks.
Acton called the move strategic, saying that it may help ward off legal challenges if the bill passes the Legislature.
The bill is set to be heard in the House Judiciary Committee this morning.
