Church holds groundbreaking for Layton temple

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is moving forward with construction of a new temple in Layton. 

Church officials held a small groundbreaking ceremony for the temple Saturday. 

Church leaders decided not to hold a traditional ceremony with invited guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

A recording of the ceremony is expected to be released to the public later this week.
