Cox Warns Utahns on Fire Danger, Liability
(Tooele County, UT) -- Governor Spencer J. Cox is warning Utahns that they will be held responsible for any action that causes a wildfire. The governor visited Tooele County yesterday to get an update on the Jacob City Fire. The governor, flanked by other Utah fire officials urged all Utahns to act responsibly, saying criminal charges and other penalties could be placed against anyone who causes a wildfire. Investigators say a faulty generator was responsible for starting the Jacob City Fire, which has burned four-thousand acres since Saturday.
