A former stake president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has pleaded guilty to charges involved a fraud scheme.

Seventy-two-year-old Robert Mourtisen admitted he bilked friends and church members out of one-and-a-half-million dollars for more than a decade.

According to prosecutors, Mouritsen told victims he would perform a series of complicated international transactions that would net quick returns.

He could face one year in prison under the terms of his deal.
