NTSB in Utah to investigate fatal bus crash
Members of the National Transportation Safety Board are in Utah investigating a bus crash that killed four and injured two-dozen more. Lead NTSB investigator Pete Kotowski says ten members of the safety board arrived in Utah Saturday. The bus was carrying Chinese tourists to Bryce Canyon Friday when the driver lost control, causing the bus to roll over.
Senator Romney voices concern over President Trumps meeting with Ukrainian president
Utah Senator Mitt Romney is concerned about what President Trump may have said about former Vice President Joe Biden and his son to the president of Ukraine. In a tweet yesterday, the Utah Republican said that it was critical for the facts to come out about any conversation Trump or his lawyer may have had with the Ukrainian president.
Renewable energy conference being held in Salt Lake
One of the largest renewable energy conferences in the United States is kicking off today at the Salt Palace. Nearly 20-thousand people are expected for the Solar Power International Conference, which will start this afternoon with a speech by Vivint Solar CEO David Bywater.
Cedar Police looking for rape suspect
The Cedar City Police Department is looking for a suspect in a rape case. Police say they were made aware of the rape on Wednesday, September 18 and the incident happened near 576 west 1045 North. Investigators say after looking into the case they have determined that the suspect is a “public safety risk.” The suspect is described as a Caucasian male and stands about 6 feet tall.
Shooting in Springville leaves one man dead
Police in Springville say they plan to release more information later today about a weekend shooting that left one man dead. Chief of Police Craig Martinez says officers were called to the area of 16-hundred South and State Street early yesterday after gunshots were heard.
Crackdown on electric scooters in Salt Lake City
Leaders in Salt Lake City are considering a crack down on electric scooters following a spike in injuries. The city council is considering a new ordinance that would impose citations on riders who use sidewalks in certain parts of downtown. According to reports there has been a major spike in scooter-related injuries.
Wildfire more active near Grand Canyon
An 8-week-old wildfire that for weeks had minimal growth and smoke is now more active in and near the Grand Canyon due to strong gusty winds and below-normal moisture. The fire burning on the national park and adjacent Kaibab National Forest poses no danger to structures. The fire has grown to 15 sq. miles since being started July 25 by lightning.
UFO festival near area 51 concludes
The festivals are over and Earthlings from around the globe headed home Sunday after a weekend camping and partying in the dusty Nevada desert and trekking to the remote gates of Area 51, a formerly top-secret U.S. military base long the focus of UFO and space alien lore. They left in peace, officials and the host of a free "Alienstock" festival said Sunday.
