Man shot and killed overnight in Apple Valley
Deputies in Washington County responded to a reported shooting Tuesday evening. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened in the Apple Valley area. It’s not clear if anyone was injured in the shooting.
Troopers make arrest on I-15 for 86 pounds of meth
A Pennsylvania man is being held in the Iron County jail without bail after he was caught with a massive amount of meth. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper made the discovery this week during a traffic stop on Interstate 15.
Zion National Park setting records
Zion National Park is coming off of a record summer for attendance. Zion officials are reporting that, on average, the park saw more than a half-million visitors per month. Annual park visits have more than doubled over the past decade.

New teachers may get a big bump in salary
New teachers in Utah may get a big bump in their starting salary. The Governor's Education Excellence Commission decided yesterday to recommend that new teachers in Utah receive a salary of 60-thousand-dollars a year.
Wanted man shot and arrested at Layton Hills Mall
A man wanted for several felonies was shot and then arrested after trying to escape from police at the Layton Hills Mall. Matthew Harris of the U.S. Marshals Service says Layton police worked with his agency to apprehend the man as he exited the mall yesterday.
More vaping related illness
Five more people in Utah have gotten sick with the vaping-related illness. The Utah Department of Health reports that there have now been 76 total cases in the state, and 14 more potential cases are under investigation.
Zombie drug found in Utah
A drug that gained infamy after it prompted a Florida man to bite the face off another person in 2016 has been found in Utah. Unified Police say they intercepted a package mailed to a house in Magna with a drug known as Flakka, colorfully referred to as the "zombie drug."
Maricopa County Assessor arrested for human smuggling
An Arizona official is facing charges in Utah for an adoption scheme that's being called human smuggling. Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen was arrested last night in California. Officials in Arizona and Utah say Petersen brought women from the Marshall Islands to the U.S. to give up their babies for adoption.
Jon Huntsman Jr may run for Utah governor
Former Utah governor and U.S. ambassador John Huntsman, Jr. is interested in running for the governorship again. Huntsman confirmed yesterday that he is going to take a good look at making a third run for the governor's office.
