LDS Bishop formally charged
Prosecutors in Davis County have formally charged a former bishop for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on several charges related to the possession of child pornography. A judge ordered that 61-year-old Timothy Hallows of Kaysville be held without bail.
Voters not pleased with Utah Senators
Both of Utah's senators are not making their voters very happy. A new poll from UtahPolicy.com and Y2 Analytics found that both Republicans Mike Lee and Mitt Romney are underwater in their approval ratings. Forty-three-percent of voters approved of Lee's performance while 47-percent disapproved. Forty-six-percent of voters approved of Romney, while 51-percent did not.
Vaping shop law now if effect
The state health department is reminding Utah vape shops that they can no longer sell flavored vaping juices without a special permit. An emergency rule banning the sale of those juices in most stores went into effect yesterday. About 170 businesses statewide have the specialty tobacco permit that allows them to continue selling flavored e-cigarette juices, while around 15-hundred stores that sell vaping products do not.
Rancher offering reward after livestock shot and killed
A rancher in Mayfield is asking for the public's help after two of his animals were found shot to death. Mark Mecham said it happened last Wednesday as the family was at the hospital, welcoming a new baby boy.
U of U student walkout
Dozens-of-students walked out of classes at the University of Utah yesterday to call for reforms in campus safety. Protest organizer Carlos Craig says the university is not listening to students' safety concerns. More than three-hundred students signed a petition from Unsafe U, listing ways they want to see the university improve accountability and transparency following the murder of Lauren McCluskey last year.
Ambulance hit during crash
First responders called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision got more than they bargained for after an ambulance was struck from behind while attempting to administer aid. The accident began with a two vehicle crash at River road and Riverside Drive. When the ambulance arrived, it was then struck from behind by another vehicle. No injuries were reported in either collision.
President Trump lashes out at Romney
President Trump says Democrats "are vicious and they stick together." Talking with reporters at the White House, Trump said Dems "don't have Mitt Romney in their midst." That was a reference to the Utah Republican senator who has been very critical of Trump.
