New faces possible for St. George City Council

Some new faces are likely coming to the St. George City Council.  Initial returns show incumbent Jimmie Hughes and Gregg McArthur, son of former St. George Mayor Dan McArthur.  This would be McArthur's first term if the numbers hold.  The race for the third and final open seat is Dannielle Larkin ahead of incumbent Ed Baca.

Brian Head has new owner

A Colorado-based mountain resort group announced Tuesday it has acquired Brian Head Resort in southern Utah, adding to its portfolio of outdoor recreation resorts in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.

Census Bureau hiring 4000 people in Utah

The 2020 United States Census will be the twenty-fourth United States Census. National Census Day, the reference day used for the census, will be April 1, 2020. The census bureau is looking to hire about 4000 people in Utah.

Utah officials react to Mexico murders

Republican Senator Mitt Romney and Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox are both reacting to the news of the nine victims who were killed by cartel violence in Mexico.  On Twitter, Senator Romney said "the U.S. must work with Mexican officials to hold" those responsible for the murders accountable.

Church weighs in on Mexico murders

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is commenting on the brutal murders of nine women and children in Mexico yesterday.  In a statement, a Church spokesman says leaders "are heartbroken to hear of the tragedy that has touched" the families.

Utah Senator Mitt Romney is weighing in on the murders of at least nine American citizens in Mexico by drug cartel gunman.  Speaking at the Capitol, Romney said he agrees with President Trump that Mexico has to "knuckle down" and go after these cartels.

President Trump has vowed to assist after nine members of a fundamentalist Mormon family were killed by drug cartels in Mexico.  The three women and six children were members of the LeBaron Family, which are part of a polygamous offshoot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

An assistant chief with the Salt Lake City Police Department is being hailed as a hero after helping to pull a driver from a burning vehicle near Hurricane.  According to the police department, Tim Doubt stopped traffic on Interstate 15 when the wreck occurred Monday afternoon.

Hurricane voters say no to proposed bond

Voters in Hurricane are saying no to a proposed 25-million dollar bond for a new recreation center.  Early results show over 76-percent of voters were against raising property taxes over the next 20-years to fund the project.
