Two injured in I-15 rollover crash

Two people sustained significant injuries after a crash in Iron County Monday evening. Utah Highway Patrol said the crash happened on northbound Interstate 15 at milepost 48 near Kanarraville. The crash happened when a black Jeep Wrangler and a black Peterbuilt semi traveling north in the outside travel lane. Troopers said the semi was traveling about 75 m.p.h and the Jeep was traveling significantly slower than the semi when the semi collided into the rear of the jeep.

Police identify woman shot and killed in SLC

Police are identifying a woman who was shot and killed at a Salt Lake City apartment complex early yesterday.  Salt Lake City Police Sergeant Greg Wilking describes the scene when officers arrived at the apartment building near Third East and First South around 4 a.m. Thirty-four-year-old Natalie Thurber was found dead at the apartment.

Utah republicans prepared for action against Romney

Some leaders of the Utah Republican Party are prepared to take action against Senator Mitt Romney for his recent vote to impeach President Trump.  Orem Republican Brandon Beckham has submitted a resolution to censure Romney that could come up for discussion and a potential vote at the party's central committee meeting on February 29^th.

Springville man charged wih distribution of child pornography

A Springville man faces federal charges related to the distribution of child pornography.  Prosecutors say 30-year-old Alex Chandler sent thousands-of-illicit files to an out-of-state undercover agent working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  During a raid of his home last week, agents found 20 illegal videos on his phone.

Law moving forward for Utah to remain on Daylight Saving Time

The Utah Senate is moving forward with a bill that would put state clocks on Daylight Saving Time and keep them there.  Lawmakers approved Senate Bill 59 yesterday on a 28-to-1 vote.  The bill has to pass a second vote in the Senate before it can move to the House.

Utah House supporting proposal later high school start times

Members of the Utah House are supporting a proposal to ask state school districts to start high school later in the day.  The House voted 51-to-20 yesterday in favor of House Concurrent Resolution 3.  The sponsor of the bill says research shows that students do better in high school and suffer less depression when they start classes later in the morning.

Utah lawmakers against Zion reservation system

Utah's Congressional delegation is speaking out against a proposed reservation system at Zion National Park.  Senators Mitt Romney and Mike Lee, along with Representatives Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart, and Ben McAdams wrote a letter to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.

Spencer Cox could be first candidate to quality to be on primary ballot

Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox could potentially be the first candidate to qualify for the primary ballot in the Utah governor's race.  Cox's campaign submitted more than 29-thousand signatures this morning to state election officials.

Republican Congressman Chris Stewart and Democratic Congressman Ben McAdams both face tough bids for another term as the 2020 election approaches.  UtahPolicy.com and Y2 Analytics ran a generic survey, measuring support for political parties in congressional districts, rather than candidates themselves.

DWR asking residents not to feed deer

The Division of Wildlife Resource is warning Utahns across the state to not leave any food out for deer.  Officials say corn kernels were discovered in the gut of a deer that recently died from chronic wasting disease in the Moab area.

Campaign called "Toilets Are Not Trash Cans"

A campaign named “Toilets Are Not Trash Cans” is making its way through Utah legislature. The campaign is aimed at reducing the disposal of wet wipes, feminine products and unused pharmaceuticals in toilets. Currently clogged lines and ruined pumps are a 3-million-dollar problem for sewer systems.
