Senator Romney pushes compromise to extend unemployment benefits
Republican Senator Mitt Romney is pushing a new compromise deal to extend unemployment benefits associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the proposal, recipients would receive incrementally less relief, starting with five-hundred dollars a week this month, four-hundred in September and three-hundred for October through December.
The plan would apply to states unable to pay 80-percent of an unemployed worker's previous earnings.
The goal is to provide help for people still unable to work, while also giving incentives for others to return to the workforce.
