Utah Senator Mitt Romney is calling his role in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump a solemn responsibility and says he is entering it with an open mind.

The Republican senator released a statement yesterday saying the allegations against the President were very serious.

He added that senators must put aside their political affiliations and thoroughly review the facts and evidence before coming to a decision.

He also said he would vote against any effort to hear witnesses before opening arguments in the trial are heard.
