The Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident in the Warner Valley area Friday. Search and rescue teams found a body near a pickup truck that reportedly crashed off a cliff the day before. Several calls were made to emergency dispatch reporting the vehicle they saw in a remote area of Warner Valley east of the Southern Parkway off Warner Valley Road.

Washington County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was called in to assist due to the ruggedness of the terrain and the difficult location where the vehicle was found, more than 200 feet below the edge of a cliff. The vehicle was found unoccupied and searchers spent time looking for the driver unsuccessfully.

The search was called off at midnight but resumed the next morning, and searchers found a body of a 30-year-old male about 200 to 300 yards from the wrecked truck.

The incident will be investigated to determine the cause of the accident, since it was an unattended death, which is common in these types of situations.

The family has been notified, but police have yet to release the man’s identity.
