Senator Mike Lee was one of eight Republicans who crossed party lines to vote in favor of a resolution to restrict President Trump's ability to take military action against Iran.

Under the Iran War Powers resolution, the President would not be able to escalate any military hostilities against Iran without specific authorization from Congress.

Lee explained his support by saying the resolution fit in with President Trump's foreign policy of making sure the U.S. will not get involved in any war too easily or too quickly.

The House passed a similar measure, but the President has already threatened a veto.
