Authorities are investigating the death of a 33-year-old woman who went missing during a camping trip near Little Creek Mountain.

The Washington County Sheriff's office said Sarah Frances Cox Yasuda died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Yasuda was camping with her husband and son when she left the campsite Sunday night.

Crews found her body Tuesday.

Detectives don't suspect foul play.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in the search for missing person, 33 year old Sarah Frances Cox (Yasuda). Cox (Yasuda) was camping with her husband and son on the Little Creek Mountain area, southwest of the town of Apple Valley.

Cox (Yasuda) was reported to have left the campsite on the evening of Sunday, the 28th of April on foot. She was possibly headed toward Hurricane, Utah. When she failed to return to the campsite by the following day, her husband reported her missing to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and volunteers from the Washington County Search @ Rescue responded to the area to search for Cox (Yasuda), but were required to terminate the search early due to the severe thunderstorms which hit the area on Tuesday evening.

A helicopter from the Utah Highway Patrol Aero Bureau has been dispatched to assist Search & Rescue efforts as they resumed this afternoon. Any persons who may have seen, or have information to the possible location of Sarah Cox are requested to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (435)634-5730.

Cox is described as 5’09” weighing approximately 190 pounds. She has red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt with a black colored hoodie sweatshirt and hiking boots.'

At this time the Sheriff's Office is only seeking information from the public on her possible whereabouts. We ask that people not attempt to search the area for her at this time, in an effort to preserve any possible tracks or evidence. Complying with this request will allow search crews to narrow their search without having to filter out uninvolved parties.
