Dozens-of-students walked out of classes at the University of Utah yesterday to call for reforms in campus safety.

Protest organizer Carlos Craig says the university is not listening to students' safety concerns.

More than three-hundred students signed a petition from Unsafe U, listing ways they want to see the university improve accountability and transparency following the murder of Lauren McCluskey last year.

One of the demands included a new certification program for campus police and staff that will teach them how to specifically deal with domestic violence cases.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Lauren's death after she was shot and killed by an ex-boyfriend that she had reported several times to U. authorities.

University spokesperson Annalisa Purser says the school has made safety upgrades but there is still room for improvement.
