Wildfire burning west of Cedar City

Southern Utah is being hit with its first wildfire of the month.

Fire officials say the new Cougar Fire started yesterday evening in Beaver County, west of Cedar City.

They estimate the fire to be around 300-acres wide and no casualties have been reported, but a few non-residential buildings are threatened.

Firefighters are reaching out to those in the threatened areas to ensure their safety.
