
Wildfire in Red Cliffs Desert Reserve

The #BigSummitFire which started in Nevada on July 13th has burned into Utah.

UPDATE:
A few homes were evacuated in Green Springs on Tuesday in response to the firework-caused Turkey Farm Road Fire in Washington County, a spokesperson with Statewide Prevention and Fire Communications confirmed.
The evacuees were expected to be allowed to return home later Tuesday.
Adam Heyder, Washington County Fire Warden fire crews were able to knock the fire down north of the homes in Green Springs.
UPDATE:
Utah fire officials revealed the cause of a wildfire burning in the southwest portion of the state, and they are looking for suspects.
Investigators on the Turkey Farm Road fire are asking the public for help identifying the individuals responsible for starting the fire with fireworks.
The suspects are believed to be three teenage boys seen driving in a white sedan on Cottonwood Rd. around 9 p.m. on Monday, July 13.
The Turkey Farm Road fire north of St. George in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve was reported just after 9 p.m. Monday.
Fire officials said fireworks are “never allowed at any time of the year in the area where the fire was ignited.”
The flames threatened a few structures and burned actively throughout the night. So far, the fire has burned more than 1,600 acres and remains 0% contained Tuesday afternoon.

Fire has been now estimated to have burned 2000 acres. No evacuations have been ordered.

A wildfire has ignited in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve in Washington County.
The fire was initially reported off Turkey Farm Road just after 9 p.m.
According to the Color Country Interagency Fire Center, the fire is estimated to have burned through approximately 40 acres of grass as of 10 p.m.
